Over 40% of MSI's flooring catalog carries GREENGUARD Gold certification — the most rigorous indoor air quality standard, covering more than 10,000 chemicals and VOCs. This certification is required for LEED v4 IEQ credits in schools, healthcare, and commercial construction. We don't stop at minimum compliance: our Everlife LVP collection achieves GREENGUARD Gold at the manufacturing level, not through post-processing.
MSI audits all primary manufacturing partners across Portugal, Spain, India, Brazil, and Turkey against our Responsible Sourcing Standard — a framework covering: (a) wastewater and quarry runoff management, (b) worker safety conditions and compensation, (c) community impact disclosures, and (d) conflict mineral compliance. Audit findings are reviewed annually with improvement plans tracked over 18-month cycles.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are published for key MSI product families including Q Quartz and the Arterra Paver line. EPDs provide third-party verified life cycle assessment data: carbon footprint per square foot, embodied energy, water usage, and end-of-life recyclability. MSI's 38-center distribution network is designed to minimize last-mile logistics. Consolidating tile, countertop, flooring, and paver orders through a single vendor reduces the number of freight shipments per project — directly lowering transport carbon emissions. Our regional DCs stock a minimum of 80% of our core SKU catalog at all times, reducing emergency re-orders and associated air freight.
Our certifications are not self-declared. Each is maintained through ongoing third-party audit cycles, product retesting, and documented chain of custody from manufacturer to distribution.
